Publisher – Avalon Hill
Good show but a hard list
- Britannia – Factions supplanting factions
- For the People – It is still the best CDG based Civil War game.
- B17 – So many hours of crew management
- Here Come the Rebels – The Maryland campaign is my favorite of GCACW series
- Hannibal – I respect it like Judd respects We the People
This set keeps it more to wargames and away from sports and economic games. If you include the other types, the list mixes up so some great multiplayer games jump in and push many of the wargames off the list
5 Civilization – Established a whole genre of games
4 1830 – Economic engine vs stock manipulation
2 Dune – So well captures the faction interplay of the book
First Purchase – Panzerblitz – Those were the days
Last Purchase – On to Richmond – Good thing I picked it up when it came out. Insane secondary market prices.
Most Eclectic – Dispatcher – Here you run a dispatching board for the Pennsylvania RR. The game board is based on what was actually used in pre-computer days for RR operations.
As I noted it is hard to get a top 5 for AH. They frequently bought designs from other publishers or in the case of 3M picked up an entire line. In my mind things like Acquire, Panzerarmee Afrika, Frederick the Great are tied to a different publisher, though more people have the AH copy.
