Publisher – Best of the Rest
My best of the rest publishers
5. West End = RAF - A favorite solo game, so challenging in managing your resources. I think it was republished a few years ago.
4. Academy - Conflict of Heroes -While WWII tactical is not my favorite period, I like how this plays out. It was a serendipitous trade, I was sent this as a wrong game in a trade. The person said we could call it even and to enjoy it, which I have.
3. Worthington - Hold the Line - Equally good system to the Command and Colors just as evocative, just haven't jumped on the others. Like Judd I'm happy with the counters.
2 MMP/The Gamers - Yes this is my second to GMT since the 90s. I have to list a few games for this partnership.
- Warriors of God - It captures the chaos and difficulties of the era. Agree with Greg's comment.
- Civil War Brigade Series - This is my favorite heavy Civil War battle series. If you really want to experience the frustrations of being a Civil War commander play one of these. Barren Victory (Chickamauga) and No Better Place to Die (Murfreesboro) are two favorites.
- Standard Combat System - The "other system" from the Gamers, like it but not as much as CWB. Simple "beer and pretzels" games. Many like Ardennes, Afrika, The Mighty Endeavor, Yom Kippur I've played many times with different people. Nice break from the heavier OCS games.
1 Histogame - Friedrich/Maria -Richard Sivel using incredibly simple rules nicely captures the war of position of the 7 Years War era. A game I don't mind bringing to any type gamer.
